"Support for housing professionals and community residents."
-- Lois Manning, Past President

Our Mission

GHREB was founded at a time when it was very difficult for African Americans to make a living in the real estate industry. The founding mission was to unite black real estate professionals in Harlem, providing information and activities for their benefit and to benefit the community.

Today, GHREB membership is comprised of real estate professionals from every ethnic background, joining together to provide service to the Greater Harlem community. Expanding on the mission of the founders, our goals today include:

  • Supporting our members with the knowledge and tools necessary to maintain the highest professional and ethical standards of practice in the real-estate industry;
  • Serving as a trusted resource meeting the needs of the community;
  • Providing and maintaining affordable housing for community residents;
  • Securing funding from both private and public sources to develop and increase the housing stock;
  • Advocating for increased home ownership throughout the Greater Harlem area.

In order to continue meeting these goals, our organization welcomes and relies on members from all sectors of the real estate industry.
